UPESSC Uttar Pradesh TET Examination 2026 : Eligibility Criteria
TET Primary Teacher Eligibility (Class 1–5)
To apply for the TET Primary Teacher position, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a university or institution recognized by the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education). Along with graduation, applicants should possess a recognized teacher training qualification such as BTC, B.El.Ed, or any equivalent diploma/degree in elementary education.
Candidates who are currently in the final year of their teacher training program are also allowed to apply. Generally, applicants should have at least 50% marks in graduation or in the relevant teacher training course, although relaxation may apply as per official rules.
TET Upper Primary Teacher Eligibility (Class 6–8)
For the Upper Primary Teacher category, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks from an institution recognized by the NCTE (in certain cases, 45% marks may be acceptable according to official guidelines). In addition, candidates must hold a valid teacher training qualification such as B.Ed, BTC, B.El.Ed, or an equivalent teaching degree.
Students who are in the final year of their training course are also eligible to apply. Candidates possessing special education qualifications from RCI-recognized institutes can also be considered eligible.
Furthermore, candidates who have secured at least 50% marks in Intermediate (Class 12) and completed a 4-year integrated teacher education program may also be eligible to apply for this category.
